Long-sleeved leggings

Refashion long-sleeved shirts into leggings

I got these three long-sleeved turtleneck shirts a few years ago but hardly ever used them because 1) the turtlenecks were too tight and 2) viscose makes me sweat (and stink!!). Yuck. So what did I do?

Turn them into leggings of course!

The sleeves become the bottom part of the legs.

And the torso became the top part. You can cut out the pieces properly using a pattern you've drafted from another pair of leggings (tutorial for drafting a leggings pattern here!).

Sew everything up and you've got some cool new leggings! As the fabric gets stretched taut, you can't see the line joining the top and bottom as much when you're wearing them. In that top picture you can see the line more in the middle pair because I used the wrong color of thread in my serger, but once I ran over those seams with the right color, it was much better. But if they really disturb you, you could just be sure to wear them with longer skirts/dresses or cover them up with some other stretchy fabric or embellishment.

Full tutorial on how to make this transformation here on my blog. Have a great weekend!
